Research context
Fraud is the most common crime in the UK, yet it remains persistently deprioritised within policing. This study investigates the underlying reasons for this neglect and explores, through the perspectives of experienced police officers, how these challenges could be addressed to improve the policing response to fraud.
Research methodology
The study is based on semi-structured interviews with 24 experienced police officers, selected from a diverse range of roles, ranks and policing contexts.
Summary of findings
This project was completed in December 2025.
