Maximising potential conference 2026: influence, identity, impact
Thursday 12 November 2026, 8am to 4:30pm, Ryton
This in-person conference is designed for individuals navigating the evolving stages of their leadership journey, particularly those balancing being part of a team while also stepping forward to supervise, coordinate or lead others.
Leadership at this stage can feel complex. You may lead without formal authority, move in and out of leadership roles, or be preparing yourself for greater responsibility while still developing confidence and experience.
This event creates space to pause, reflect and reset, exploring how identity, confidence and influence shape the impact you have, often before you feel fully “ready”.
Who can attend
This event is free to attend and open to colleagues from underrepresented groups across leadership stages one to three (police constable to chief inspector, including police staff and volunteer equivalents).
An underrepresented group refers to individuals who are not represented within policing to the same extent as within the wider UK population.
This event may particularly benefit colleagues who are:
- new to leadership or preparing to lead
- supervising or coordinating others within a team environment
- seeking leadership CPD to support confidence, progression or next steps
- aspiring towards promotion, lateral development or broader leadership opportunities
- looking to refresh and further develop their leadership skills
If you are unsure which leadership stage you align to, further information is available on our leadership standards page.
What's included
The conference will include:
- shared keynote-style sessions
- self-selected interactive breakout workshops
- networking opportunities with colleagues from across UK policing
- lunch and refreshments
For those travelling from further afield, there may be an option to stay overnight on Wednesday 11 November 2026, subject to availability and local force funding arrangements.
How to apply
To apply to attend the event, complete the expression of interest form by Friday 10 July 2026.
Please ensure you have line manager approval before submitting your application.
