The police leadership programme (PLP) is a 12 month course that replaces the strategic command course. Designed for aspiring chief officers, the newly launched executive leadership programme is part of the five stage leadership programme delivered by the National Centre for Police Leadership (NCPL).

It supports leadership development at all levels and is available to:

  • police officers
  • staff
  • volunteers

The graduation event

The graduation event, hosted by the College of Policing's Director of Leadership and Workforce Development, Jo Noakes, featured speeches and congratulations from the College's CEO, Chief Constable Sir Andy Marsh; Chief Constable Steve Watson; and Chief Constable Debbie Tedds. Peter Cheese, CEO of the CIPD and member of the College Board, delivered the keynote address.

The police leadership programme – stage 5 (executive leaders)

Stage 5 prepares high-potential police officers and staff for future executive leadership positions.

It is open to:

  • substantive superintendents
  • chief superintendents
  • equivalent-grade police staff
  • aspiring executives from international and partner agencies
