The Yorkshire Policing Academic Centre of Excellence (TYP-ACE)

Research projects submitted from The Yorkshire Policing-Academic Centre of Excellence (TYP-ACE) – University of Leeds with University of York.

The Yorkshire Policing-Academic Centre of Excellence (TYP-ACE) combines multi-disciplinary research and innovation capacity from across the University of Leeds and University of York to equip police and partners with the best research evidence available.

TYP-ACE builds upon the pioneering work of the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) Vulnerability and Policing Futures Research Centre. It also builds on the internationally renowned work of existing centres of excellence across both institutions, including the:

  • Institute for Data Analytics and Priestley Centre for Climate Futures at Leeds
  • Environmental Sustainability Institute and Centre for Reviews and Dissemination at York

It will generate, synthesise and share evidence-based problem-solving approaches to support police and partners in responding to crime, reducing harm, and enhancing community safety. It will help deliver research-informed organisational and culture change in policing.
