Senior police staff network
The Senior Police Staff Network (SPSN) supports and highlights the work that staff across all policing organisations do to help achieve the best for policing. The network and these events are aimed at police staff at stage 3 of the Leadership standards (currently in middle management positions or higher) who are aspiring to stage 4, and those currently at stage 4 or 5.
The network holds quarterly events, virtually and in person. The events provide opportunities to network and learn from experienced senior police staff guest speakers, to support you in your CPD and help maximise your future career options.

Future executive leaders (FEL) workstream
The future executive leaders workstream is designed to support and develop aspiring individuals who are working towards becoming executive leaders within policing. This initiative represents our commitment to nurturing diverse talent and preparing individuals for executive roles, ensuring our leadership reflects the communities we serve. This workstream is for:
- Stage four (senior leaders) of the leadership standards (police staff colleagues, and officers operating at superintendent or chief superintendent levels or equivalency) considering or planning to apply for the Executive Leaders Programme (ELP) within the next one to three years.
- Stage three (mid-level leaders) of the leadership standards (police staff colleagues, and officers operating at chief inspector level or equivalency) considering or planning to apply for the Executive Leaders Programme (ELP) when eligible to do so.

Imposter phenomenon - reframing self doubt for aspiring executive leaders
When executive leaders, like Howard Schultz and Sheryl Sandberg, openly discuss their own experience with imposter feelings, it’s not surprising that aspiring executive policing leaders often face similar challenges with confidence and self‑belief.
This session will help you strengthen your understanding of the Imposter Phenomenon and explore practical, evidence‑informed strategies to manage self‑doubt. Whether you are preparing for progression or taking on greater responsibility, you will leave with tools to reframe unhelpful thoughts and move forward with confidence.

- substantive superintendents, and police staff working at stage four of the leadership standards
- officers and staff acting up to level four
- alumni of the senior leadership development programme (SLDP), Aspire leadership development programme, high potential development programme (HPDS) and direct entry programme
- those who have attended either a career pathway workshop or the senior leaders development centre (these ceased in 2021)

Maximising value from new officer education: Strengthening capability, efficiency and strategic workforce planning
Led by CC Jason Hogg, this joint College of Policing and National Police Chiefs' Council (NPCC) strategic briefing will set out the significant opportunities now available to forces through the police constable entry routes (PCER) optimisation programme.
This session will explain how substantial efficiencies, improved national coherence, and a more responsive and sustainable model for initial officer education has been made available. It will include an overview of the national PCER costing tool, launching mid-April. This tool provides chief officers with a consistent and transparent evidence base to:
- establish standardised local programme costs
- understand the true off-the-job training requirements
- benchmark against regional and national delivery
- support data-led decision making
This is open to both superintendents and chief officer staff.

This session will focus on how leaders can maintain public confidence and drive multi‑agency alignment in fast‑moving environments. Attendees will leave better equipped with strengthened capabilities to lead confidently, improved understanding of partnership information flows, and actionable approaches for countering harmful information dynamics while safeguarding communities effectively.

Productivity and benefits realisation are now core elements of effective policing leadership. With rising demand and constrained resources, superintendents must be able to turn organisational intent into practical improvements that release capacity, strengthen performance and enhance service quality. This session provides a clear and grounded introduction to productivity in policing: what it means, how it is measured and how leaders can drive and evidence improvements that matter.
Designed for those directly responsible for delivery, the session builds confidence in applying benefits‑led thinking to day‑to‑day leadership and operational change.
Aligned with national productivity work, the session will explore:
- the national productivity landscape, including key organisations, enablers and expectations
- the role of the Centre for Police Productivity (CPP), including evaluation support, guidance, diagnostic tools and adoption resources
- insights from the Productivity Sift, highlighting evidence‑based innovations with the greatest potential gains
- core benefits‑realisation principles, including clear terminology, proportionate measurement and leadership responsibilities
- practical tools that support delivery, such as the productivity diagnostic tool, funding routes, benefits measurement guidance, implementation support and peer networks

SIRO Hydra exercise
Our intensive one-day Hydra-facilitated exercise is designed for current and aspiring senior information risk owners (SIROs), providing invaluable experience in handling real-world information security challenges.
Through immersive, scenario-based learning, participants will navigate a simulated information breach, making critical decisions and justifying their reasoning under pressure.
This exercise enhances risk management skills and offers practical strategies for mitigating information security risks.
The session also delves into the role and responsibilities of a SIRO, emphasizing the importance of strong information governance, and highlighting key resources and support networks. Based on a real incident, the scenario underscores the real-world demands that SIROs may face at any time.
Entry requirements
These events are tailored for individuals currently serving as SIROs (or likely to step into the role), specifically at the level of deputy chief constable, assistant chief constable, or equivalent.
