Ensuring those charged with the strategic management of investigations have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform the role.
The course element of the programme is themed to reflect contemporary policing issues and includes investigative and technical innovation, ensuring that senior investigating officers are aware of subject matter likely to be encountered by those who successfully pass through the level 4 accreditation process.
Objectives
The course addresses five core themes that characterise successful policing operations:
- strategic command and leadership
- strategic partnerships
- resource management
- strategic management of information and intelligence
- public confidence
The themes addressed during the course of the programme are constantly refreshed to ensure they keep pace with developing practice.
After attending this course the participant will be able to:
- meet the demands of the most critical and challenging investigations being equipped with a high level of knowledge, understanding and skills
- demonstrate enhanced strategic awareness including executive and business skills to operate at this level of investigation
- manage high-impact, complex cases that attract high levels of political and public scrutiny including Article 2 inquests and public enquires
- consider the investigative issues beyond operational expedience, including aspects of consequence management
