Internet intelligence investigation (III) investigator learning programme

This course is aimed at all staff who use the internet to assist in their investigations, including vetting departments, professional standards departments, government and public authorities 

The course focuses on in depth interrogation of freely available sources of information on the internet, and using the internet as an investigative research tool. It equips students with the knowledge and techniques required to effectively and lawfully interrogate the internet and capture evidence during the course of their investigations.

During the course, you will learn about:

  • Advanced search techniques
  • Social media
  • Image data and facial recognition
  • Creating and maintaining covert accounts
  • Online footprints and security
  • Hidden data
  • Legislation, tasking, record keeping and risk assessment
  • An overview on what is available from Telecoms Operators using IPA 2016 legislation

You will take part in lots of practical exercises to practice your skills.
