Going equipped issue 12
Welcome to issue 12 of ‘Going equipped’. As we move into our sixth year, it’s great to see this publication going from strength to strength, incorporating innovative and evidence-based articles from across policing.
‘Going equipped’ is your magazine – it’s written by policing, for policing. Police officers and staff from almost every force in the UK have contributed, by either writing or peer-reviewing articles.
As the Editor-in-Chief, I have the privilege of reading through the articles before publication, together with the editorial board. We have some great content in this issue. There will be an article of interest for everyone working in policing, whatever your role.
In 2021, we published an article about body recovery from water. This issue contains an update, five years on. The increased research and activity in this space is fascinating. There’s a lot to learn for us all operationally when considering the 600 tragic cases that the author has reviewed.
An article on illicit vaping provides us with some shocking statistics, such as ‘spice’ being detected in 27% of vapes seized in a project covering schools across the country. This hidden harm is exposed and is well worth a moment of your time to read.
Along with many other brilliant contributions, this issue has articles on:
- psychological safety of officers and staff who work in policing
- a review of out of court resolutions
- a communications campaign to tackle anti-social behaviour
- a week in the life of an Opal intelligence development officer
