We've released new guidelines on effective supervision to support managers to develop themselves and their staff.
The guidelines provide clear, evidence-based advice on:
- simple things supervisors can do to support their staff in being the best at their role
- actions chief constables can take to help supervisors
Having a good supervisor can make a big difference to job performance, development and wellbeing. The new guidelines aim to provide greater consistency in how forces support everyone working and volunteering in the police service.
Although they were created for anyone who manages staff, the guidelines can also help officers, staff, special constables and other volunteers to understand what to expect from their leaders.
