Providing the essential knowledge, understanding and skills to lead teams within public protection in an inclusive manner.
This course is aimed at senior leaders (chief inspectors and above/police staff equivalents) in the following groups:
- area/basic command unit commander
- head of public protection department
- senior public protection leaders with responsibility for public protection teams, performance and partnerships at a local level
Key topics
The programme will allow learners to apply the principles of effective public protection governance and will build and maintain strategic partnerships to identify and respond to harm.
Learners will lead a victim-centred approach across their areas of responsibility, applying findings from evidence-based practice and utilising analysis within the leadership of public protection. Approaches to embed a culture for prevention, intervention, disruption and risk management will be explored to ensure suspect identification and relevant threat assessments for vulnerability are managed.
The specific challenges to wellbeing when working within public protection will be explored, with leaders being equipped to foster a culture that supports their teams’ wellbeing, resilience and capability.
