Professional development content has moved

Professional development content is now available on the College of Policing website and College Learn.
News

The professional development website has now been decommissioned. The website contained information and guidance about:

  • the policing professional profiles
  • recognition for prior experience and learning
  • career pathways
  • the competency and values framework.

Moving the content

We're in the process of moving the information and guidance from the professional development platform to the College website.

Policing professional profiles

The policing professional profiles (PPP) can now be accessed via the College website. You may need to log into College Learn to view some roles from the PPP. If you are unable to access College Learn, you can contact: professionaldevelopment@college.police.uk.

The PPP now use the 2024 competency and values framework (CVF) as the 2016 version has been decommissioned. Forces should no longer be using any PPP that use the 2016 CVF.

If you have any enquiries regarding policing professional profiles, please email: professionaldevelopment@college.police.uk.

Competency and values framework

The 2024 version of the competency and values framework (CVF) can now be found on the College website. The CVF describes the behaviours required for recruitment, assessment and development in policing.

Career pathways

You can access information and guidance on career pathways on the College website. Career pathways explains the different routes through policing – whether you’re an officer, support staff or a volunteer.

Recognition of prior experience and learning

A new location on the College website is being developed for recognition of prior learning and the credit estimator tool. Once this has been developed information will be sent to forces on how to access and use it. Until this takes place you can find more information on our recognition of prior experience and learning page.
