Police outline how response to violence against women and girls will be assessed
We've launched a new performance framework with the National Police Chiefs’ Council (NPCC) that will measure the impact of the police response to tackling violence against women and girls.
The outcomes and performance framework sits alongside the national delivery framework for policing violence against women and girls, launched in December 2021, which outlines policing's commitment to the issue.
The framework represents the first time that policing has collected data nationally on violence against women and girls. It sets out:
- how the police response will be assessed, monitored and scrutinised
- key performance indicators
The first performance report will be published in November 2022 and then subsequently every six months.
The framework for England and Wales has been developed under the leadership of the National Police Coordinator for violence against women and girls, Deputy Chief Constable (DCC) Maggie Blyth. It has also been informed by experts in policing, government and the third sector.
I am absolutely committed to reporting on performance openly and publicly, enabling scrutiny of our progress. This includes making our threat and risk assessments publicly available. I am also committed to a collaborative approach to draw insight from performance data, which will help tell us what is – and isn’t – working, so that we can refine our approach accordingly.
