A female police officer in the workplace

The National Centre for Police Leadership’s maximising potential: diverse personal leadership conference is taking place at the College of Policing’s Ryton-on-Dunsmore site on Wednesday 20 November 2024.

The event gives you the opportunity to explore your leadership identity and map out the next steps in your journey. It’s a free event aimed at:

  • under-represented groups in policing
  • constable, sergeant, inspector (or police staff/volunteer equivalent)

The conference

The conference is aimed at enabling the development of colleagues and building networks for those from under-represented groups in policing. It focuses on the first line leader and mid-level leadership modules ‘personal leadership’.

The event will provide you with a deeper understanding of your personal leadership style through a dynamic series of workshops tailored to your personal growth. These workshops include:

  • self-selected, interactive sessions, including one-on-one coaching
  • psychometric assessments
  • action learning sets

The workshop day will run 9:30am to 4:15pm. The first session will be delivered by our very own Leadership Learning Delivery team and has been adapted from the Aspire Leadership Development Programme

Under-represented groups

The College bases its definition of an ‘under-represented’ group as any group where it has been shown to have a disproportionately lower participation in the police service than in the general adult population. We use data from the Home Office statistics collected from forces each year in March: Police workforce England and Wales statistics.

Booking a place

  • If you are interested in attending, please complete the booking form and return to events@college.police.uk by Friday 1 November 2024.
  • If the event interest exceeds the number of places available, we will select delegates using an independent randomiser, and let you know the outcome by Monday 4 November 2024.
  • Attendance at the conference is free but travel and any accommodation that may be required will need to be force funded.
