Domestic Abuse Matters Change Programme

This announcement is an invitation to participate in a competitive process for a 2-year licence, with the option to extend for one year to use, maintain and develop the College of Policing’s Domestic Abuse (DA) Matters Change Programme. This means you can deliver training to delegates from Home Office police forces and other approved organisations domestically and internationally on a royalty fee basis.
It includes the College’s:
- 1-day (7 hour) first responder training
- 1-day (7 hour) champions training
- 2/3-day train the trainer programme
Domestic Abuse Matters
Sections 1 to 3 of the Domestic Abuse Act 2021 creates a statutory definition of domestic abuse as described in the Home Office’s Domestic Abuse Statutory Guidance (July 2022).
Domestic Abuse (DA) Matters is a programme of activity originally developed to help policing organisations to enhance the knowledge and skills of their workforce. It helps those who act as first responders (and champions who manage or supervise them) to improve the police response to domestic abuse.
The trainer-led, classroom-based sessions include a mixture of videos, presentations and group discussions. Learning outcomes are for delegates to be able to:
- explain what is meant by the term coercive control
- understand the effect of multiple controlling behaviours on victims
- identify why victims can find it difficult to leave an abusive partner
- provide an effective response and support for victims
