Latest changes – police pursuits

The tactics directory is referred to 6 times on the police pursuits APP. Each time it previously included the date this document (linked to in College Learn) had been updated, which was 2023. This document has been updated (2026) and the link automatically goes to the most recent document. Therefore, we removed the date within brackets so that it was not incorrect and to future proof the content.

Reference to motorcycles being used as feeder vehicles removed from the initial phase section on police pursuits. 

Changes throughout to Police Pursuits section. 

Updated 'standard response' to 'response' throughout.

Removed last sentence stating 'Motorcycles must not be used as feeder vehicles' from 'Initial phase trained drivers/motorcyclists' section.

23/05/2024 - the following reference and link was added to the final sentence in section 'Fatal collisions resulting from pursuit activity':

Post-incident procedures following death or serious injury APP

Link to police dogs APP added to police dogs section

22/03/2024 - the following amendments have been made:

Vehicles used for pursuits section

• 'marked' and 'and marked personnel carriers' added to second to last paragraph
• 'high performance' replaced with 'advanced PV' in last paragraph

Prohibited vehicles section

• 'Vehicles which can transport a large number of personnel, for example personnel carriers' bullet point removed

Tactical options - '(updated November 2023)' added after 'tactics directory'.
